This is the first fish dish that I have made under my Filipino Food Fridays segment. I was always afraid of fish because of the tinik, but I purchased frozen bangus, which was butterflied and de-boned, so I didn’t have to worry about tinik, just a couple of fins.
For the most part, this is a simple dish to make. I happened to acquire a very tough kabocha squash. Even after slicing the Japanese gourd in half and heating it up in the microwave for five minutes, it was still tough to cut into pieces. But all that work was worth it. It was very tasty! In fact, I liked the squash more than I liked the fish!
I really enjoy making a new Filipino dish each week–so I can learn how to cook, and so I can get closer to my Filipino culture–so please let me know what dish I should make next. Send me a tweet: @gerrardpanahon.
