Pesa (Gingered Fish and Vegetable Soup)

114c1ce2978ab52d288f880649895961 Pesa (Gingered Fish and Vegetable Soup)Pesa, or Gingered Fish and Vegetable Soup is an easy, healthy dish for the whole family!

The recipe calls for bass or cod, but I was told to use tilapia instead, and that worked well for the dish. You’ll also include vegetables, such as: cabbage, bok choy, and green onions. The flavor comes from ginger, lemon juice and patis, the latter two of which you will use as a dipping sauce.

Below you’ll find a video of my first time making Pesa. I cooked the fish too long–in an effort to make sure the vegetables were cooked–and the fish disintegrated! Oops!

I really enjoy making a new Filipino dish each week–so I can learn how to cook, and so I can get closer to my Filipino culture–so please let me know what dish I should make next. Send me a tweet: @gerrardpanahon.
